Taunton, MA – Spectrum Integrated Technologies, the low voltage division of J&M Brown Company, is underway with the comprehensive tel/data and security system projects at the new 307,000 sq. ft. Boston Globe plant facility, located at 300 Constitution Drive in Taunton.
In the tel/data project, Spectrum’s team of six IBEW Local 103 technicians are handling the installation of more than 400 tel/data stations, the buildout of seven new IDFs, and the facility’s new state-of-the-art data center. The project includes connectivity of copper and fiber cable installations to Globe’s five new printing presses.
The security system project entails installation of an entirely new security system for the warehouse and outdoor parking facility. System installations include card access security at all perimeter doors.
Spectrum IT’s Director of Operations Ed Menard and foreman Scott Francis are supervising the skilled field crew on the tel/data project. Spectrum IT Vice President Terry Kilduff is managing the security project. Spectrum commenced work on the projects in September 2015 and they are on schedule for completion in June 2016.
• Spectrum installed 5 new I.D.F. cabinets 20 feet in the air attached to steel beam columns due to the size of the warehouse
• Each of the cabinets are connected with Fiber and copper feeders running back to the main M.D.F.
• A total of 30 Wireless units are installed in the ceiling rafters, controlling some of the robotics that move paper rolls and various products around the warehouse space.
